Illness

It's that time of year again when sickness seems to spread with all of the children being so closely confined.  Each day I will be disinfecting the tables and chairs to hopefully eliminate some of the germs as well as having the children sanitize before our daily snack.
Things you can do to  help:
*Remind your child to sneeze into their elbow so as to not get easily spreadable germs on their hands.
*Send them with a coat or jacket depending on the weather.
*Keep them home if their symptoms are worse than a slight runny nose.

This is not meant to alarm anyone, I just saw this link from local news 8 and thought it was worth posting and mentioning.  There have been a few cases in Idaho Falls and so it's always good to keep an eye on your children and be a little cautious.  Thanks!

Scholastic Book Order

At the first of this week I sent home a scholastic book order in your children's backpacks.
I am really excited to be offering this program in our preschool!! Last year we had great success and the children had so much fun getting and reading their new books.  Letting your children help pick out the books you'll be reading, ensures their participation and learning.  Scholastic books are very reasonably priced and make great gifts.  If you are planning on using a specific order for a gift, please let me know and I will be sure to get it to you without your child seeing.
Please do NOT feel obligated to purchase books.
With the scholastic reading club:
*You can choose from handpicked, grade-and reading-level-specific books for your child.
*Every book you buy earns free books for our classroom library
*You'll find the best values on a variety of formats, including eBooks.
Together you can choose from books hand-selected by teachers and experts, and then order online or by turning in your order form to me.

*For easy access to the scholastic website, you can click on the Scholastic Books link on the left sidebar.
*Visit scholastic.com/readingclub
*Enter the one-time class activation code.  Our classroom activation code is MPG73.
*Submit your order.
* All book orders will be shipped to our classroom and I will hand them out to you.

Our order this month will need to be turned in by Sept 20.
Thanks so much!  If you have any questions please let me know.

September News Letter

We have officially completed our first day/week of preschool! It was so fun to see the different things that your children brought to show and tell about themselves.  For the month of September we have several exciting things planned.  Please remember that your children learn a lot through repetition during the early years in their lives; I encourage you to incorporate the same things we are learning at school into your daily routine to help your children learn even faster and understand better.  These next few weeks will go as follows:

Week 2:  Name recognition, rules, assessments, overview of shapes and colors, basic fundamentals of writing.
This week we will focus on easing your children into preschool with a few fun activities.  Most of this week will be spent doing the assessment on your children to see where they are at and what we will need to focus on during the school year.  We will not be studying a letter this week.

Week 3:  Letter A, Theme: Apples, colors: red and green, circle shape number 1

Week 4:  Letter L, lines, leaves, number 2, color yellow, name page.

Just as a reminder: The week that your child has the snack I will be sending home the bucket on the first preschool day that week and you will bring it back for snack on the second day of preschool for that week.  Hopefully this gives everyone enough time, however, the snack list is on the side bar for anyone that wants to know more in advance.  Occasionally there are changes made to this if a student isn't able to bring it for some reason.

Also, feel free to add your e-mail on the top left side bar to receive e-mails each time our blog is updated.
