ROAR!!!

Moving the pictures around on this post became a little complicated, as I haven't kept up with my blogging skills over the years..ha ha ha, so I'll rearrange them as soon as I figure it out. Until then, I wanted you to be able to see how much fun we had during dinosaur week and learning all about the letter Dd. Below are our cool dinosaur skeletons made out of Q-tips

We also searched for dinosaur eggs and cracked them open to discover what was inside. The kids LOVED this activity!!!                                     

 

A few of the boys were so excited and wore dinosaur shirts!

For another activity we used salt clay to make fossils. These turned out really well and were a big hit. The pic above and to the right is of our crazy class dino's roaring.

We also traced wooden dinosaurs onto paper and gave them all different skin from polka dots to stripes, to whatever else their creative imaginations came up with.

Dr Seuss week

This is definitely one of my favorite weeks!!

We started out the week reading The Cat In The Hat. The kids were welcome to wear a hat if they wanted to and everyone made cat in the hat faces.

Would you eat them here or there? Would you, could you, anywhere?  I also introduced the book Green Eggs and Ham as we ate our yummy green eggs and ham snack.

Everyone was willing to try them and everyone liked them this year.

Our second day this week was spent reading One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish.

We had fun couting the correct number of fish to go each bowl for snack.

We also created a colorful fish bowl of our own using cup cake liners.

My 3yr class traced and colored their hands to make the fish in their bowls.

The last book I introduced to them was Ten Apples Up On Top. This was the first year I added this book and it was a keeper!

We loved stacking our apples "legos" on top of each other as we counted all the way to ten.

We even made it without having them fall over. YAY!

I loved this worksheet where the kids used dot markers to make the correct amount of apples on each animal.

It was equally as fun for them to glue apples "pom poms" on their childs head.

Finally, we put our apples in order from 1-10 and measured how tall we were next to our big stack.

Zippy the Zebra

We've had a lot of stripes this week as we talked about, painted, sequenced, and crafted zebras. Our fudge striped cookies were the perfect zebra snack!

We sang a song about Zippy the Zebra and just had to make one of our own.

This picture isn't very descriptive, but the girls are cutting out and arranging the zebras in size from smallest to largest.

Our three yr class making a zoo out of clay and popsicle sticks. This was a very popular project!!

Another neat activity was zigzaging a car across their papers. We will have to try racing next time.

For another crafty treat, the kids enjoyed making a zoo out of pretzels and animal crackers.

The creativity didn't stop with the zoo.

Our zebra masterpieces turned out so fun!

Painting stripes wasn't enough for my 3day class. They finished up their week with a random painting of whatever they decided. Each one so beautiful and unique just like the artists.
