April News Letter

Welcome back from our week off for spring break. I hope everyone had a nice vacation. With just two months left of school, our four-year olds have started working hard and preparing for the end of year graduation program along with our regular curriculum. I will be sending parts for our play home with a few of them, but most of them will be able to work on it during school. Our class agenda for the month of April will go as follows:

Week 1-Letter Ee, number 8, color white, oval shape. We will be having an Easter egg hunt as well this week. :)
Week 2-Letter Uu, number 9, color yellow, rectangle shape. Spring time.
Week 3-Letter Nn, number 10, color brown, circle shape.
Week 4-Letter Bb, color black, bees, birds, things that fly.
Week 5-Letter Ii, color grey, counting, matching, things that are cold.

Book orders are being sent home this week and will be due by April 20th. This will be our last book order for the school year so now is the time to get some books or activities if you are wanting some for summer reading. Again, our classroom code is MPG73. Thanks so much!

Also, I am now taking registration forms for the upcoming 2015/2016 school year.  Classes are filling up quickly so  please fill out and turn in a registration form ASAP so that I know to save your spot.  If you have already talked with me, your child is already on the list and will still need a form filled out to hold their spot. Dental Hygiene

Our Dental Hygiene Lesson was one of my favorites. The kids got to decide what foods make our teeth happy or sad. We colored plaque on dry erase teeth and practiced our brushing skills by using pom poms to clean them off. For our snack, we had little mouths made of apples, marshmallows, and peanut butter. The kids loved these and had fun putting them up to their own mouths. I think they had the most fun with our lego/playdough flossing activity where they used yarn as floss to get all of the food out of the "teeth". This will definitely be something we do every year!

March News Letter

We will kick off the month of March with Dr. Seuss week! Wednesday and Thursday your children are invited to wear a hat if they would like to.  This is a fun time to get them excited about reading!

I will be putting in a book order on March 10th.  This will be the time to order if you are wanting books for Easter.  I have coupons for a free $5 book when you spend $10. If you would like one, please let me know. 

* The week of March 23-27 we will be out of school for SPRING break. 

The month of March will go as follows:

Week 1- Dr. Seuss week.  Rhyming, counting, reading, graphing. 
Week 2- Letter Jj, color orange, diamond shape, number 6
Week 3- Letter Rr, circle shape, colors of the rainbow, leprechaun counting, number 7
Week 4- Spring Break. No School.      

The first week in April we will be making Easter bunnies for our egg hunt out of milk cartons.  If you have a gallon size milk jug that you can send with your child on or before March 30th,  31st that would be great! I'll have extras here if you don't drink milk or have an extra jug.  Thank you so much!  I enjoy teaching your children so much!

February News Letter

I'm very happy with how things are going thus far in our classroom.  Several of the kids have learned how to write their names, and many are close, with needing just a few letters in their names. Please remember to use the Danelion writing paper for instruction on how each letter should be written when practicing at home.  If you lost this paper or need another one, please let me know. 

Our February schedule goes as follows:
Week 1-Letter Vv, colors pink and red, number 4, heart shape
Week 2- Letter Vv, Valentine Party! Please remember your valentines with just your    childs name on them.  Mon/Wed class will be on the 11th. There are 10 kids in the class.  Tues/Thurs class will be on the 12th.  There are 11 kids in the class.  Thanks!
Week 3-Letter Dd, Dental Hygiene,  color brown, number 5, oval shape
Week 4-Letter Zz, color black, number 6, square shape

December News Letter

I have made a change to our schedule for this month.  Due to both our Christmas party and assessments this moth I don't feel like we will have the amount of time I feel like we will need to go over three letters. We will be learning letter C for both Week 2 and Week 3 and continue with letter S when we come back in January.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break!  We have now been in school for 3 months. This means it's once again time for assessment testing.  During the next two weeks I will be doing assessments in-between our other classroom activities and they will be sent home with your children that same day or shortly after.  Also going on in December

Week 1:  Letter W, Winter time and what to Wear in the Winter time.  Rectangles, and the color blue.
                We will not be doing a number for any of the weeks in December.
Week 2:  Letter S, color white, shape circle
Week 3:  Letter C, colors green and red, Christmas, shape star. Christmas party!

We will not have school the last week in December.  We will start our Christmas break on Dec. 22nd and begin again on Jan. 5th.  Thanks so much!!

November News Letter

October passed quickly, ending with our class Halloween parties! I hope to update the last few months posts with pictures soon!  Our classes for November are halfway over, but I still wanted to post what we've learned and will be learning for the rest of the month so that you can be reviewing at home.
Week 1: Letter Ff, color purple, diamond, and the number 7
Week 2: Letter Oo, color grey, circle, and the number 8
Week 3: Letter Tt, color brown, triangle, and the number 9
              Thanksgiving, and being Grateful!

Our Thanksgiving break will be the week of Nov. 24-28.  I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!

Our next book order is due on November 15th.  This will be the last book order I send in until January.  There are a lot of good deals and fun holiday books for Christmas! Our order will be back the end of November and will be handed out when you get back in December.  I will be handing them to the parents in a sack so that the children don't see incase they are for presents. 

 We have been concentrating more on writing their names this month.  Please make sure as they practice at home that they are following the correct writing technique. I have been enjoying your children so much! Please let me know of any concerns you or your child may be having.

October News Letter

The month of September went very well!  I am having so much fun with your children each week!  I will be posting pictures later of some of my favorite lessons and activities that we did in September.
As for October, we have many more fun things planned:

Week 1- Letter P, number 3, color Orange, shape circle.  Working on using scissors & name formation
Week 2- Letter M, number 4, color Green, shape rectangle.  Monster Math, name formation
Week 3- Letter G, number 5, color White, shape Oval.
Week 4- Stranger Danger, Manners, number 6
Week 5- Letter H, number 7, color Black, shape, diamond.  Halloween Party!

Thanks to all of those who ordered from our book order in Sept.  Books should be here today and I will get them handed out the first part of next week, along with a new book order for October.  I will be turning in the book order for October around the 12-15 so that we can get books back in time for Halloween.

Dates to remember: October 29th for the Mon/Wed class and October 30th for the Tues/Thurs class. We will be having a dress up Halloween Party!!
